Inclusion

Inclusion is at the heart of education at Rosary School.
We recognise that each child is different, and we strive to enable learning for all our students in accordance with our vision for a more knowledgeable, pioneering and global society. This means that we do not turn away students who have special education needs and we adopt ways of teaching in our classrooms that makes the curriculum accessible to all the students and maximises every students’ academic, cultural, social and emotional success in a common learning environment.
At Rosary no child is turned away on the basis of a learning need.
Instead in such cases all relevant parties sit down together and discuss the best possible provisions and curriculum modifications that need to be arranged for the student to be able to have an enriching and rewarding school experience.
We provide three tiers of support as outlined in the Inclusion Policy according to the child’s individual need. Services provided by the Inclusion Department include assessment support, skill – focused withdrawn support and in – class support asrequired.
Confidentiality is maintained regarding all aspects of the Inclusion Department. Information about all Students of Determination is treated as sensitive and shared only on a strict need to know basis. Communication between parents and the Inclusion Department is a vital part of ensuring student engagement and success so parents are provided with a communication link with the Head of Inclusion. The Inclusion Department consists of the Inclusion Champion, the Head of Inclusion, a teacher for SEN support and three social workers. The Inclusion Department is also supported by the Inclusion Support Team which comprises of all coordinators and supervisors across the school so they can aid in the daily implementation of the inclusion policy on a school level.
